The chair of "Knowledge Management in Bioinformatics" at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin pursues research in various topics around biomedical data management and analysis. This talk will give an overview on the current topics within the group, in particular dataflow rewriting and optimization, workflow similarity search, adaptive dataflow scheduling on cloud infrastructures, and referential genome compression.

Ulf Leser holds a Diploma in Computer Science from Technische Universität München and a Phd in Data Integration from Technische Universität Berlin.
After spending three years as project manager in the IT industry, he became a professor for Knowledge Management in Bioinformatics at Humboldt-Universit zu Berlin in 2003. His primary research area are functional bioinformatics, biomedical text mining, scientific databases and infrastructures for Systems Biology.
