In this invited talk prof. Ulf Leser will present his work about

Biomedical Text Mining

Abstract

The talk will give an overview on the state-of-the-art in text mining (or information extraction) in support for biomedical research. It will discuss progress and systems for the most common types of problems (entity recognition, relationship detection) and the most common types of applications (curation, search). Focus is put on personal experiences and ideas for further research.

Speaker:

Ulf Leser is Professor for Knowledge Management in Bioinformatics at Humboldt University in Berlin since 2002.

His research is mostly devoted to managing, querying and analyzing biomedical data, ranging from knowledge-rich databases over large sets of experimental data to published facts in the literature. His groups participates in a large number of highly interdisciplinary projects with partners mostly from medicine, molecular biology, and systems biology.
